About

Agnieszka Papierska is a Polish historical violinist and viola player. After finishing her bachelor
degree in modern violin she dedicated herself to the historically informed practice and finished her
master studies in The Hague Royal Conservatoire in the class of Enrico Gatti.

Since the very early age she performed with many professional ensembles and orchestras. She began her career in the Musical Theater ROMA in Warsaw with which she performed the Polish premier of the musical The Phantom of the Opera. Later on, while still being a student, she cooperated with Philharmonic Orchestra in Lodz where she had opportunity and pleasure to work with many extraordinary soloists and conductors, among others with Midori, Ivo Pogorelich, Piotr Anderszewski, Daniel Raiskin.
However, despite such wonderful experiences in the field of classical music, the love and interest
towards historically informed practice took over. Since that moment Agnieszka performs mostly on
historical instruments pursuing both chamber music and solo career. Diversity is her main feature as she equally loves performing 17th century violin sonatas and rediscovering 19th century violin technique.
Recently she decided to pursue her passion of viola playing and received a master degree in
historical viola performance from the Music Academy in Bydgoszcz (Poland) in the class of Daniel
Deuter.
Agnieszka performed in many important concert halls in Europe among others in Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Centro Cultural Lisboa, Grand Theatre de Provance (Aix Provence, France), Tivoli
Vredenburg (Utrecht, The Netherlands), Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ (Amsterdam), Auditorium Cesare
Pollini (Padova, Italy), Auditorium del Parco (L’Aquila, Italy), Chamber Music Hall of Berliner
Philharmoniker (Germany), Cine-Theatro Central in Juiz de Fora (Brasil).
In 2018 Agnieszka was a beneficent of the prestigious scholarship of Polish Ministry of Culture
“Mloda Polska”
She plays on the anonymous 18th century violin from the Klingenthal region and an anonymous German viola from the same period.
